This window is mean to tell the details of the account of Jesus' birth presented by the Gospel according to Matthew. In this window, the magi bring gifts to pay homage to a king amidst the holy family, and the camel in the background points to their royalty and dignity. The star above, lighting the darkness of the heavens with rays whose design foreshadows the cross to come, is a sign of divine guidance for their mission. The action continues in the small image below the primary window which depicts the Holy Family passing in front of the sphinx on their flight into Egypt to avoid the wrath of King Herod, further solidifying the association of Jesus with one of the major figures of the Hebrew faith. This information was provided from Trinity Episcopal Church portfolio, which is no longer currently posted under the previous link. This smaller image is listed as "The Assumption" within our database as well.
